Notesaic - A Collaborative Note Builder

Description

Notesaic is a program that allows you and someone else to work on a note at the same time.  The two of you can work on different parts of the note and see the changes/edits as they happen and then send a copy of the note to whoever you want.

Example

Before Notesaic, when Alice and Bob had an online meeting, Bob would write up the meeting notes and email it to Alice for review who would then send the changes back to Bob and the process could go on and on.

With Notesaic, Alice and Bob can see and add parts to the note and change different parts of the note simultaneously.  They no longer need to wait for the email since the note is 'live'.  If Alice wants to add an item to the note she simply clicks on 'add item' and Bob will instantly see that a new item has been added.  If Bob wants to change or modify an existing part he just has to click 'edit' beside the part he wants to change, save his changes, and Alice will instantly see the new changes.

Features

  • Simultaneous note editing: two people can change different parts of the note simultaneously.
  • Automatic locking of a section while you edit so that your changes don't conflict with the other side
  • Changes you make are automatically sent to other party
  • Drag and Drop re-ordering of sections
  • Email the note at any stage
  • Copy and Paste images and fragments from your web browser or formatted text MS Word into Notesaic

Origins of the name Notesaic

Originally I was thinking of calling this "Collaborative Notetaker" but then I realized that that would be a pretty long title and it would reduce the menu space you have :-P.  So I then came across the idea that this is similar to a mosaic of thoughts, ideas, and notes and thus..  Notesaic [insert chorus music here].

I think this is neat! Can I Help?

Thank you! :-D I'm glad you liked it.  If you want to, you could help me make it more popular by voting for it on the contest's website[worldsbestapp.com] and telling people to visit www.worldsbestapp.com.  Check out some of the other applications on there as well :-)

Alternatively if none of that is your style you can always email me feedback at: dan at danieltse.com

About Daniel Tse

I have a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in Biomedical Engineering.  For over seven years I managed my own business developing websites and (Flash/javascript,web,php,java,C#) applications for clients across Canada developing a moderate sized client-base.  Currently I'm working as a C# developer; I volunteer with a few Medical Rehabilitation Research labs at the University of Alberta developing some applications to help conduct their studies; I'm training for a marathon (~40+km /27.3 miles) in Oct 2005.  I still do the occasional DDR though the dance pad is long gone.

Yes I like to code!  I like doing Engineering as well as mixing it up with coding and  development.  It's my objective to find or create a career in which I (and those who want to do it as well) get to do both.  I try to apply my skills to help people do things they couldn't do before.  I have a strong desire and a lifelong goal to "impact society" (or perhaps just a handful of people) with the skills and knowledge I have been blessed with and the experiences and knowledge I hope to gain as I go along.
